Progress Report

E-mail Print PDF

Well Winter has definitely set in now and work is speeding ahead.

The Jetta is off the road and now without an engine. The new block and head are sat in the garage waiting for the funds/parts to be able to rebuild them to the spec i want.

The spare wheel well is now out of the car, as is the factory sound proofing. The windows will be with a polycarbonate company very soon for the lighter replacements to be made.

All in so far the Jetta has lost about 30kgs...so should be much faster this season.

The engine will hopefully with NOS be pushing out around 280bhp.

Will post some pics up soon and keep everyone updated :)

Big Bang

E-mail Print PDF

It was just me entered for VWDRC at Big Bang as Rich had not yet finished his car ready for racing. He did run in RWYB though...unfortunately resulting in a cracked barrel...

Friday started off with scrutineering which i passed...with a couple of pointers...i only need to make a metal sunroof to replace my glass one to keep Amos happy.

Saturday started with RWYB to see how the Jetta was running...let's just say it ran well again with another pb of 16.11 :)  Qualifying started int he afternoon and by the end of the day i was 9th out of 19.

Qualifying continued on Sunday and at the end i was still qualified 9th...this then led into eliminations in the afternoon. Unfortunately i brokeout and was knocked out of the first round...on to better next time as this was my first proper VWDRC round :)

Many thanks again to Darren W for the pictures below!!

It was a glorious day of sunshine (although i have never been so cold as we all were on the Saturday night...rumour has it that the temperature got down to -7!!!

Rich spent Sunday morning tuning and getting the car running right...he then went out and ran a 13...not quite as quick as it should be but that was what this weekend was about...TESTING!!

I managed about 7 runs on the strip with a new PB of 16.15!!! Will be chasing that 15 second run at Big Bang in a few weeks.

Here are a few pics to wet yoru appetite for the coming season. Photos courtesy of DarrenW of VZi fame and a good friend and designer of the team logo and vinyl Matt Tye.
