Mike's Jetta

Progress Report

Well Winter has definitely set in now and work is speeding ahead.

The Jetta is off the road and now without an engine. The new block and head are sat in the garage waiting for the funds/parts to be able to rebuild them to the spec i want.

The spare wheel well is now out of the car, as is the factory sound proofing. The windows will be with a polycarbonate company very soon for the lighter replacements to be made.

All in so far the Jetta has lost about 30kgs...so should be much faster this season.

The engine will hopefully with NOS be pushing out around 280bhp.

Will post some pics up soon and keep everyone updated :)

A bit of info on the Jetta

The Jetta started out life with me just over 2 years ago as a standard (except for lowering) 1.6 carb Jetta GL... This didn't last for long and after replacing the carb with a Weber i took it racing for a RWYB day at Santa Pod...i managed to get a respectable 18.04 second quarter mile....but i had caught the bug. The Jetta went off the road for a little while last year while the engine was replaced for a mk 2 golf 8v K-jet lump. Once this was up and running i took it to RWYB at VW Action and ran a 16.64 second quarter mile... At this point Rich and myself decided we should join the VWDRC as a team...and Mighty Metamorphic Racing was born. The Jetta is still running the same engine...until i can afford a set of twin 40's...and i'm hoping for a sub 16 second run...watch this space!!!
