Having missed Big Bang VWDRC racing we are getting the bug ready for BugJam.
As usual everything has been left til last minuteand its now a rush to get ready. 5 days to go...
I had done all of the welding before Big Bang.So we started doing stuff for Bugjam a week ago. Lots of bodywork to finish off, engine to build & install, brakes to bleed, pedals to fit, interior to fit.
Did the pedals and brakes last week without too many issues :)
Built up the engine from the short block of Daz's bug with some barrels & pistons & heads I had, and found a lightened flywheel as well.
Installed the engine on 7th July. Started easily and ran well.... until the gland nut holding the flywheel broke ruining the flywheel and crank. Tried to fix without success. Guess I must have over tightened it :(
So.. still no engine yet. This is 11th, we will be at Santa Pod on 16th.
Turned our attention to the bodywork over the last couple of days as engine will be easy to source from parts & mates.

We tried the black paint but didn't like it.
It still looked like this about 5 hours ago.. but 2 Days of filling & sanding and late nights in the garage and we have this :
Still have the bonnet, wings & decklid to paint.
Should have an engine tomorrow (Sunday 12th).
I feel another long day/night in the garage :)
